Fresh from the recording studio, For You, written by Lauren Robert, with a strong tip of the hat to shining Gospel star Marvin Sapp, has been released.

Karen Amatrading, Robert Fulton and Lauren Robert went into the studio with Producer, Engineer, Musician extraordinaire, Dan Dolan and came out with a slammin’ ‘jammin’ R&B, gospel single that represents their heart-bending unstoppable trademark sound.

For You
Music and Lyrics: Lauren Robert

Lauren leads on this one, with that unmistakable gutsy honest voice of hers: A mix of blues, rock, and the essence of her very soul as she thanks the man she loves for getting her through a “very dark time”.

There is no doubt as you will hear, that Lauren can wail. That big voice can knock you upside your head, or she can whisper seductively in your ear, words you’ve always ached to hear. Her sound is universal because you can tell she loves to sing and she loves and respects her listeners. There is so much spirit in her voice to be shared.

Supporting her with the grooviest back-ups, harmonies the other two Sensations, Karen and Robert, thrill and chill us with their bodacious tones.

Dolan has helped to produce a sound that is relentless in its driving rhythm. The mix is magic. It is musically complex – yet heart-wrenching in its simplicity. It is the straight skinny. It is clear that the Sensations surely get behind singing out the truth of the love, appreciation, and the joy of saying thank you.

Off-stage, Karen and Robert are just as spirited and vivacious they are in performance.

Dolan, in addition to the other instruments on this single, plays the impeccable guitar solos..bringing to mind…Michael Jackson’s soloists. Dolan feel is exactly the right flavor for Robert’s mix of pop and Gospel.

This new one is definitely SENSATION-AL!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Meet The Sensations!

Pictured below are Lauren Robert, Karen Amatrading and Robert Fulton members of the soulful singing trio with whom I currently gig. We perform in all kinds of venues, clubs, private house parties, weddings, socials, anywhere people want to dance, groove and feel feel absolutely sensational!!

The material we cover is the R&B and soul music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s with originals thrown in to make it even more of our own sound.

Here is a little bit about us:

Karen Amatrading:

Most recently requested by producer Jackie Jefferies as one of the vocal trio the “Boppettes” in the musical reading of Le Hot Blu” at The Creole Restaurant in Harlem, NYC, Karen is a veteran of musical theater and dance in this town! Aside from her various performances in David D. Wright’s” Oshun, Goddess of Love,” Obatala, King of the White Cloth, “The Creatures” and “Sango, Lord of Thunder”, she has choreographed and performed with the Boys & Girls Choir of Harlem for their” Praise God & Dance, concert at Lincoln Center.

BET’S BLACK HISTORY SERIES recently interviewed her as one of the featured performers for “Swing Dance Mondays” at the Legendary Cotton Club every night at 9PM!

The Cotton Club is where I had the joy of meeting Karen when I sang with the big band also on Monday nights!!!

Robert Fulton:

Robert, born into a musical family started singing at an early age in church and for family events. He has trained and performed with several choirs for most of his young adult life! Robert was the lead singer for the jammin’ singing group the DINATONES, a musical group that performed for DANCEMOBILE. HIS COOL DYNAMIC LOWS HIGHS AND SEXY HEART-FELT DELIVERY lend to this group a sound of what they are….SENSATIONS!

I was first introduced to Lauren Robert when I was approached to build the website for her explosive and gritty musical .22 Caliber Mouth in which she explores the relationships of five characters whose broken lives intertwine in a relentlessly honest, dangerously raw and passionate search for love, truth and meaning.

As the .22 caliber website developed we spent a great deal of time talking about creating of a more ‘personal’ website for her and it was through these chats that I became increasingly aware of her highly charged background both on and off stage. I quickly realized that she was a force with whom to contend. Should someone ever tell her that she cannot do what she sets out to do – beware – you have no idea what you are up against.

If there is one thing I have learned about Lauren Robert it is that she is one seriously dynamic and extremely talented woman who possesses a verve, vitality, and tenacity cloaked in a sensual innocence that would make Bette Midler blush.

Make no mistake, Lauren takes no prisoners.

It is for this reason I must provide you this fair warning: Hang on to your hat as she will sweep you off your feet and singe your short-hairs.

Over the next few weeks I’ll help her to launch this site by adding background information of her road less traveled, galleries, her extensive recordings, her experience under the hot lights on the big stage in theater, studio and music halls as well as the more sultry side Lauren’s story and what’s to come.

This is going to be one hell of hot ride.

Stay tuned.
