Lauren Robert singing with Joe Frazier

The “brothers’ discovered I had a a lot of soul in my voice from the time I was 18 years old. R& B and Soul and Black Gospel music were always where my musical passions dwelled. I could mean it too. I got picked up by one of New York’s famous impressario’s, well-known for his brilliant musical chops at  putting girl and soul groups together. He was bigger than life, Eddie Jones. Oh , did he know how to create a gorgeous four part chord! During a rehearsal at Harlequin Studios one day on 46th street…heavy weight champ Joe Frazier , who was putting a huge Las Vegas Review together…heard me sing. He approached Eddie about having me and two boyfriends of mine start to tour with him!!! He wanted me to be his “white sugar!” That began a two year journey on the road with a America’s prize fighting hero…and taught me all I ever wanted to know about medicine balls….Mohammed Ali..the thrilla in Manilla…what punch -drunk really means, and  what to do when the sexiest tightest costumes in the whole world split open while you’re dancing in front of an 18 piece horn section!!!! Them’s some wild days!!

Lauren Robert Listening to playback

We had been in the studio all day recording actors for the CD of the soundtrack for .22 Caliber Mouth. A friend snapped this candid while I was listening to a playback of someone’s solo. My writer/producer hat was on and I was detecting that the solo was a bit off pitch.
